Wanted: Wise Filipino

©darrengarcia
Every steps forwarded by the government is a milestone for every Filipino. On the other hand, every demeaning move by the state defiles the essence and very soul of our nationality. Government, society, and citizens are all part of this inter-dependent system.  Active involvement is necessary for the growth of our nation. BUT WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO THE ELECTION RESULTS?

I cannot express my discontentment further...I can point my finger at futile voters, unreliable machines, or even incompetent candidates. It's a cyclic pattern that just won't end. The best solution? End it myself.

Being a wise Filipino doesn't just stop at elections, it extends to our daily contribution to society. Even if the best, most genius, or sanctimoniously honest leads the country, situations won't get any better.

Obviously, people who rant are in the upper class of society. Those who are educated and well-informed. Those who completely understand that Philippine politics is in a seriously bad condition.

Uttering dismay over social media is a good way to start active participation, a sign of awareness. However, clamors will not carry us far. We need to establish a strong stance amidst this disheartening situation. We need to be wise. Let us learn to forward the goals of the country even on our own. Let us front this race by being the best we can in our schools, universities, workplaces, and chosen field.

Change isn't with the government, it's in our hands waiting to be sown.

Life's Giant

NOTE: This post is not meant to flamboyantly display my grades. This post is aimed to acknowledge what is due His name.

"I want to have a GWA higher than 1.5, I want to be like those geniuses. But I simply can't, no matter how hard I try, my IQ is only up to this level."

Those are the words that played in my mind as I started my second sem. I was headed by fear. I was so consumed by my false perception; I FOCUSED ON MY OWN ABILITIES.

Surely, my abilities fall short and it will never take me far. But there was one important thing I missed out. I forgot that I have a GREAT GOD, one who conquered death.

As soon as I realized that I can't do it alone, everything changed. I became very dependent on God. Every time I feel exhausted of school, He gives me strength. Every time
I feel down by failing marks, He gives me hope.

I remember the story of David and Goliath...
David was puny and was no match to a giant and strong warrior like Goliath. Nonetheless, he stood up, notwithstanding his might, and got a sling. Eventually, he defeated the giant.

Like David, sometimes, we have to disregard our own strength and just live by faith. People tend to belittle themselves, thinking they couldn't do something. On one aspect, it is true that we can't do everything for we are finite creatures.  On the other hand, it is also a concession that we conveniently forget that we have an infinite source of power, we just have to trust Him.

The challenge here, is to trust Him all throughout the journey. Some people only call for help when they think they are in trouble. Admit that you can't do it alone.

"Ourselves my fail ourselves, but He never will."
