Lights, Camera, Action

©darrengarcia
I haven't been posting any fb status lately. I feel so unsecured using the feature. Unlike twitter where your tweet comes and goes...A Facebook status receives more reaction, due to more audience. From your mom to your teacher, everyone can know what's on your mind just a click away. I feel that it is not safe anymore to simply expose everything that you think. Same concept actually applies in speaking (face to face encounters), not everything that the brain processes should be expelled by the tongue. If we choose to deliver our thoughts, it is better to examine if we are ready for its consequence. After all, everything we do is connected— lights, camera, and action.

I had a friend who posted a status, "What the mind thinks the mouth speaks". I respect his opinion, but I would like to disagree to his ideal. What most people don't know is that a tongue can kill (not literally). It pierces deeply into a person's innermost being. I strongly believe that everyone is empowered to control his thoughts and most especially his speech. If we were to be vociferous of all our thoughts, uttering everything we feel, it would not be beneficial both for ourselves and to others.

LIGHTS

Sometimes our speech is governed by our feelings. A sudden burst of emotions usually is accompanied by rushed roars of curse. If emotions were light, we would have been blinded by it. We are living in a democratic country, where freedom and liberalism dominates. You can drink liquors if you want to; you can choose any religion and even start your own if you desire; surprisingly, you can even corrupt the political system if you are in position (like most of the people in the government do). However, it is obvious that everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. If we let our emotions guide us, we would be fallen into a self-woven trap.

CAMERA

Most of the times we live to be known...C'mon, who doesn't want to be famous? We post pictures of starbucks coffee yet we ignore our 3-in-1 drinks; we share shots of our favorite steaks yet we become ashamed when we eat sardines. The truth is, people tend to exalt themselves. We are too concerned of what others might remark. Our speech is sometimes conformed to our environment. We speak what (we think) is "cool". We curse others, we idolize ourselves, and articulate harsh and hurtful thoughts.

The "Amalayer" controversy spread like wildfire. It gained thousands of rude comments and numerous prejudices. What made us different from her? It just happened that there was a camera during those moments. If she knew there was someone recording the incident, and would later be viewed by the nation, do you think she's gonna act the way she did? Let us remember that there is always a camera looking upon us— the eyes of God. It is better to think of what He may think, than what other people may think. You can never achieve to please EVERYONE, but you could always please God.

ACTION

The cliche goes "actions speak louder than words. We've been hearing this from the day we were born, and would most probably still be heard of until we die. This proves how strong and true the saying is. Every promise mouthed should be a word that would last forever— words that are reinforced with sincerest fulfillment. Hardly none have never felt heart breaks caused by a broken promise. The moment when your parents promised you to buy a candy, but never did; the time when your teacher swore that the exam would be easy, yet was never achieved; and that shining minute when someone told you that he/she would always be there for you  words now gone with the breeze. It is inevitable to break a promise, yet the reason that promises are made to be broken is unreasonable and insulting. To rationalize your fault with  that ideology is unacceptable a symbol of ignorance and hypocrisy. Before you make a promise, be sure that you are willing and able to fulfill it. When you know you are ready, spill out the right words. Lastly, do it with your utmost effort and with full conviction and enduring endeavor.
