Frap Bar

©darrengarcia
I've been hearing stuff about frap bar for some time now, and I finally found an outlet near us. I must say that they are good in luring customers from their aesthetic techniques alone. To be honest, there was nothing really special about the drink. Roughly 3 stars for this one.

Movie day

It just feels so good when weekends are spent on sheer relaxation. Nothing beats a good old day watching a movie with my family.

Weekend Stroll

©darrengarcia
I am supposed to be studying for an exam, but I realized that it's just a no-brainer. I'm not saying that I'm a genius, it's just that there's little to review since I pay attention in my class.

As I was strolling around the mall, I saw a number of people meddling in one store. I got curious, and went in. Then I saw a 70% discount on shoes. I stopped, and thought about it for a moment. I didn't want to get hyped and be an irrational buyer. I evaluated if it is a good value for money...my brain says it is. So I went home, having two new pair of shoes.

Friday Foodie #1

I feel like rewarding myself for another week of hard work. Of course, there's nothing that compares to delectable meals. I just can't say no.

For this week, it's a subway BLT meal plus a taco bell quarter pound burrito. The cookies highlighted my experience, it was chewy and its sweetness is just at the right level. So next time, you take a stop at subway, don't forget to grab a cookie. Although they're somehow costly, the trick is scouting at promos beforehand so you could get good deals with great discounts.

Here's for starters: Get your free cookie just by answering a survey.

Mundane Pot of New Things

Two words: TOTALLY COOL!

Not only is planting a great hobby, it could also be a GOOD source of income. I'm talking 'bout hundred of thousands here. I think that I'm getting used to these fields. I was even one of the people who perfected the grafting technique (yeah!).

After that, we went to a tissue culture lab. I had a chance to do reflasking. I transferred orchid buds to a new media.

©darrengarcia
I have something to take home tomorrow... orchids in vial. I got two bottles for my sisters, I'm hoping it would stay alive and grow flowers eventually. The technicians in the lab told me that the plant should stay in the vial for about 4 months until they are ready for transfer.

The Value of Work

©darrengarcia

So this is where I work as a student assistant. What I mainly do is help on research matters. Besides the cheap pay, I just enjoy having this experience. Indeed, there are values that you can learn through first-hand accounts.

Basically, I just face the computer almost every time. Is it boring? Absolutely not. I learn so much on the research I do.

Odd Study Area

©darrengarcia
07-22-13
I don't think that most people study in places like this. I was studying for chemistry wehn I decided to go to a food store surrounded with bars. Just outside the glass are loud speakers and bright dashing neon-lights. Good thing the wi-fi connection was really fast in that place so I finished earlier than expected.

Dairy Dosage

REAL FRESH MILK are those 7-10 days fresh, not those in the supermarket. Falsely advertised "fresh milk" like nestle's uses UHT (ultra-high temperature) pasturization technique. Some minerals/vitamins/hormones die at that certain temperature.

It's just my wallet...

There is really no safe place nowadays. And I experienced it first hand. While I was on my way to LB, my wallet got stolen and my allowance for the week was in there. It was a very tragic day for me.

Thank God it was only my wallet...

I just don't get how some people try to endanger everyone in society simply because they have to sustain their needs.

To whoever opened my bag and snatched my wallet while I was peacefully walking on my way to school, shame on you. My parents worked hard for that money.

As much as I want to hunt you down, I'd rather be constructive and diverge my attention to other important matters. I'll really do good  on my studies just to open new jobs someday when I eventually establish my own company, just so that people would have "decent jobs".

Rodeo for Beginners

©darrengarcia
Today highlights my experience as a future haciendero. Roping, grappling, and restraining: they were arduous tasks. The cows were really strong, not to mention smart...maybe because they are UP cows.
©darrengarcia
Surprisingly, I was the first one to capture the cow using the lasso. I feel that I have this heroic cow-boy blood embedded in me, kidding.

" I WILL FEAR NO EVIL" even if evil comes in the form of poop and pee. I was the only one bare-footed since no boots fit me. At first, it was really disgusting. Eventually, it actually felt pretty good; it was mushy and quite warm. I just had the best "manure foot-spa".

The Quicker, The Pasta

Since stress to me is tantamount to more food, my perplexed mind found affinity with pasta. Paste verde and Asian pasta were both scrumptious. It's good to know that there are places near UPLB where I could buy these food. I wonder if my palate continues to desire the same trickling taste, I just hope that my wallet could address its demands.

Training Sessions

©darrengarcia
After my 7pm class, I go straight ahead to our TUD (tune-up debate). I think that passion and character really weighs a lot more than sheer intelligence. I'm hoping to gain more experience so I can eventually be internationally competitive. So far, I only had 7 debates in my entire life.

It was my first time to sow my own vegetables. We need to extremely tend it, not because we want it to taste good, but it's because our grades depend on it.

First-wave Orientation

Our orientation was unexpectedly flooded by a great number of applicants. We even had to double our monetary contribution just to feed just as much.

So basically, we had a tour on a cow's food bowl. I wonder how they taste.

We played a cool game called taboo. You must describe the word without telling some taboo words listed on the card. To know more about the game, simply google it.

The Dark Room

My 6PM class this tuesday experienced a power outage so everyone had to use their cellular phones or flashlights to read their books. Since it's a math class, everyone had to imagine the graphs. This is what LEARNING should be.
